A serious call to prayer.
“Consecrate a fast; call a solemn assembly. Gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord.”
(Joel 1:14 ESV)
Call a solemn assembly. This was a serious call to God’s people to pray. His judgment was coming soon and they needed to be ready for its arrival.
While I do not know if God’s judgment is coming soon, I do know it will come against a people who continually flaunt their sins, raise their “high hands” to the heavens and defy the One True King, and seek to be independent of the Lord. Therefore, we need to pray and pray seriously.
We’re calling you, my Albion brothers and sisters, to gather to pray. One week from today, Tuesday, February 2 at 6.30 pm, come to the church to seek the Lord’s face. We will spend time in concentrated prayer for our nation and its leaders, for our state and its leaders, for our church and its leaders, as well as the church of Jesus Christ over all.
Don’t stay home because you’re fearful of praying out loud. Most of the times of prayer will be spent being led by others. There will be times for quiet, personal prayer and reflection, but this will be a time to be led in prayer, guided toward repentance and seeking God’s face to not turn away from us.
We’ll meet for just about an hour. So, even now, plan on carving out that time next Tuesday, February 2 at 6.30 pm.
